F.C.C. AUTHORIZES KRKO FOR 50,000 WATTS

May 30, 2008 - The Federal Communications Commission issued the construction permit necessary for KRKO to finally increase its power to 50,000 watts! It took eleven years for KRKO to accomplish this goal, and it is the single biggest event in this radio station's 86-year history. Everyone at KRKO and the Skotdal family would like to thank you for keeping the faith, for participating in the process, and for listening. A copy of the Commission's decision can be viewed here.

Testing of the new signal may begin as soon as fall 2008. As you drive around, let us know where you lose the signal and where it becomes scratchy for you. We'd like to do some comparisons in those areas after we get the new signal on the air. In the meantime, we'll provide construction updates on our website and on the air.
